While Halifax gets the lion's share of the traffic at the eastern end of CN's network, it's almost all containers.  Most of the single car traffic goes to the other side of the harbour, Dartmouth, and much of that is carloads for the Burnside Industrial Park.  There is a small yard there, a couple spurs off the main line, and three longer leads that climb the hillside to various industries.  The most westerly of the three, DW01, is known to the crews as the ":teen lead" since many of the tracks are numbered in the teens (DW13, DW16, etc.).

On the morning of February 5, 2023, train 505 was shoving up the lead and across Mosher Dr. with some empty scrap gons and three loads of building supplies.  There are two different scrap yards at the end of the spur, on the top of the hill.

After dropping the centrebeam and two boxcars at CanWell, and spotting the empty gons, 9584 was returning to to the yard with one load of scrap.  In the second photo they are running next to Topple Drive.  In the background you can see the grade increase after the track crosses Joseph Zatzman Dr.

Farther down the lead, the train is almost back to Mosher Dr. and the yard with the single load.  They would leave that load in the yard, and then head up the DW40 lead with loads of propane and more lumber.

Nice shots. That leader must be around 50 years old. CN seems to keep its power in good condition.

Umm, you did notice the trailing unit, right? Just kidding a bit.
