A Perfect Meet at Sandy Cove
Author: cn6218

Back on March 20, 511, the morning gypsum turn between Dartmouth, NS and Milford had a meet at Sandy Cove siding with L507, the daily manifest from Dartmouth to Moncton, NB.  That wasn't all that unusual at the time, although lately L507 has been earlier and 511 will typically follow them out of Dartmouth.

In the first frame, at 11:07, 8846 and 2692 are hauling into the siding at the west end.  The main line westward signals were already lit because L507 was approaching the east end.  In the second frame, L507, with 2240 and 8911 were crawling past the tail end of the loaded gypsum train at 11:11, and a few seconds later the signal cleared for them to proceed to Alton, where they would meet Z120.  Meanwhile 511, which may not have even had to stop either, left the siding at the east end, continuing on to Windsor Jct., where they took the Dartmouth Sub to Wrights Cove.

I then headed west (compass north) to find 120.  That story was already told here: Against The Odds (trainorders.com)

Awfully nice of the head and tail ends to meet within your field of view.
