Montreal-Senneterre delays
Author: TomPittsfieldMA

VIA Train 603 Abitibi from Montreal was due at Senneterre at 9:02 p.m. on 5/31. Shows as having arrived at Senneterre  at 5:11 a.m. on June 1, a little over 8 hours late.  Train 604 now shows estimated departure from Senneterre today 13 1/2 hours late at 8:00 p.m.  Does anyone know what's going on?

Thanks.

Does the Jonquire trains have to wait at Hervey to join ?

In 2016, the Senneterre engineer only goes as far as Hervey, but the Jonquire engineer goes to Montreal.

Delays are heat related.  The following is from VIA's website, although it does not give an explanation:

Important Notice: Trains 600, 601, 603 and 604

Train 601 on May 31 and June 2nd will depart 7 hours and 45 minutes later than the scheduled departure from Montreal and all stops along the route. En-route delays are expected.

Train 603 on May 31 and June 2nd will depart 7 hours and 45 minutes later than the scheduled departure from Montreal and all stops along the route. Delays are expected.

Train 600 on June 1st will depart 13 hours and 52 minutes later than the scheduled departure from Jonquière and all stops along the route. Delays are expected.

Train 604 on June 1st will depart 13 hours and 32 minutes later than the scheduled departure from Senneterre and all stops along the route. Delays are expected.

Thanks!

So departures of Trains 600 and 604 on June 1 were intentionally delayed 13 1/2 hours to run overnight instead of in the heat of the day. They are running very close to the revised schedule as of 6:22 a.m. EDT, maintaining 13 1/2 to 14 hours behind published schedules.
