"Train 2 A freight train derailment that occurred on October 16th near the town of Melville, SK, is expected to be blocking rail traffic in the region for an undetermined period of time. Due to this situation outside of our control, train 2 that departed Vancouver on October 14th will have to terminate its trip in Winnipeg, MB. The train will be cancelled without alternate transportation between Winnipeg, MB and Toronto, ON. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/17/24 10:59 by DrawingroomA. If my grasp of Canadian geography is correct, Winnipeg is east of the derailment. If VIA number 2 can get to Winnipeg, why can't it get all the way to Toronto? Perhaps they're thinking of VIA 1, which is going west from Toronto? GTD Date: 10/17/24 15:35 Re: CN derailment in Saskatchewan Author: DrawingroomA cn6218 Wrote:

According to the map on VIA's tracker #2 is still at Melville notwithstanding what it says as to arrival times in points east of there. Train #2 due to arrive on Friday becomes #1 departing on Sunday. Reservia is still selling tickets for Sunday's train #1. Perhaps VIA hopes to get the consist and crew deadhead to Toronto in time for Sunday morning. If that is their intention, good luck.
