Canadian Railroads > HOT TransferDate: 03/17/25 16:27 HOT Transfer Author: cn6218 GP40-2Ls 9574 and 9531 were heading to Halifax Ocean Terminals from Rockingham Yard on October 28, 2017. The transfer job was about to go under Mumford Rd., the fifth of 15 road overpasses between the two yards. The cut between Fairview and Ocean Terminals was dug in the late 1910s to access new piers and a new downtown passenger station, built on fill in the harbour. The Halifax Explosion of 1917 hastened the completion of the route and the new terminal. Although it was built in relatively modern times it has sustained grades of 1% in places, with one short stretch of 1.4% just after leaving Fairview Jct., the connection to the old main line, now known as the Deepwater Spur.
