Canadian Railroads > Switching in StellartonDate: 04/08/25 18:15 Switching in Stellarton Author: cn6218 Once the Big MLWs were gone from the Cape Breton & Central Nova Scotia Railway, and then the ex-BN GP50s, it always seemed tough to get a matched consist on a train. Rail American seemed to favor leasers, and they came in every shade of the rainbow.
Finally G&W took over and started slapping the orange, yellow and black paint on everything and the situation improved. Although all the motive power on the CBNS is now owned rather than leased, a couple units have slipped through the cracks, including one of the SD40-2s. But even back in 2017 it wasn't too hard to find a matching set of three on train 306, as the crew returned to the Stellarton yard office after dropping the train from Truro in Riverton. SD40-2s 3365 and 3364, along QGRY SD40-3 3327 were looking quite respectable in the afternoon sunshine on October 17. Too bad the CBNS has been less than fastidious about washing them. Great shots, Gerry Date: 04/09/25 10:17 Re: Switching in Stellarton Author: TCnR Genesee & Wyoming has an amazing array of shortline and regional operations. Once painted up it's an interesting chase and challenging to simply find all the little operations they have going on.
Great colors for photos too. t4p. |
