Canadian Railroads > Trio of CPKC 100-Series Trains at Keith (Calgary)Date: 05/27/25 19:37 Trio of CPKC 100-Series Trains at Keith (Calgary) Author: feclark This past late week and weekend we were in Calgary to visit friends and family. I had a few hours on a couple of mornings to see what I could get at Keith Yard (you'll see milepost 9 for the Laggan Sub in the photos). The vantage point is the cycle/pedestrian bridge on the west side of Stoney Trail.
1. On Friday, May 23, I arrived to see the DPU pusher, KCS 4532, on a WB grain train, a good clue to an imminent EB. In a matter of minutes, CPKC #100, Vancouver IMS to Toronto, arrived behind CP 8906 and KCS 4571. Time was 1039, with mid-train DPU 8850 and DPU pusher 9761. The containers were dominated by CP/CPKC and Canadian Tire. Just before the photo, the lights were killed, not because of me, but because of a foreman preparing to do work at the east switch. 2. Next day, Saturday, May 24, WB stack train #105 took the north track, informed by the RTC they'd be there for #100 and #106. Bingo! At 1054 (this couldn't be PSR actually working, could it?), #100 arrived behind 8619 and 8523, with DPU KCS 4861 and DPU pusher KCS 4195. The first three cars were auto racks, the remainder dominated by domestic containers. 3. To my delight, #106, automotive from Coquitlam to St. Luc, was led by KCS 5013, assisted by CP 8884 and DPU 8628. The old milepost 9 is still mounted on the wooden pole, missing its cross-arms.
