Canadian Railroads > Shortest Day of the Year, 20 Years AgoDate: 12/21/25 09:47 Shortest Day of the Year, 20 Years Ago Author: cn6218 I've posted some pictures before from this day, but I think this is a new one. Although it was the shortest day of the year, I made the most of it with images that included CN, VIA and the Windsor & Hantsport. About an hour after VIA 15 had gone through Windsor Jct., the loaded gypsum train was about to diverge from the Bedford Sub to the Dartmouth with its 65 loads of gypsum. The gypsum mine is about 20 miles to the west, so the two trains likely met there.
The leader, 5783, is the same one that had been leading on September 28 of the same year (Same Day, Different Gypsum Trains), although I can't confirm the number on the 2nd SD75I. This would not be unusual, since the same power would tend to be assigned to the gypsum trains until it was due for an inspection or some problem cropped up.
