Canadian Railroads > 20 Years Ago on Bedford BasinDate: 12/27/25 16:31 20 Years Ago on Bedford Basin Author: cn6218 VIA's Ocean was nothing short of embarrassing before Christmas this year, with passengers being bused between Amqui and Montreal on the 24th and the eastbound getting to Halifax about 22:00 on Christmas Eve.
20 years ago they weren't taking any chances, with 3 F40s on a Renaissance consist, as 15 headed for Montreal. The Ocean was about 9 miles from the Halifax station, on the shore of Bedford Basin. GTD Date: 12/28/25 06:27 Re: 20 Years Ago on Bedford Basin Author: jp1822 Thanks for the flashback and great picture! The Ocean was always a unique train operating 6x per week with a descent sized consist of ex-CP Budd Stainless Steel cars (with VIA's Easterly Class) and then the introduction/transition to Renaissance cars. Hard to believe the ex-CP Budd cars are now back on the Ocean! Yet I am sure I am not the only one that longs for a better lounge (Panorama Car, Park Car?) for the Ocean, yet restricted by the condition of VIA's Panorama Cars and the turning facilities in Halifax!
What caused the delay this year for #14/15 on dates mentioned? |
