Canadian Railroads > Wild Alberta Skies for the Holiday TrainDate: 12/31/25 02:17 Wild Alberta Skies for the Holiday Train Author: cp1400 I took the opportunity this year to chase the Canadian CPKC Holiday Train through part of Alberta and all of BC. For the days in Alberta there was some awsome light to compliment the colour of the Holiday Train. Here’s a selection of favourites from the chase.
1. Just south of Vulcan, on the Alderside Sub, the low angle sun lit up the train passing the Richardson Pioneer grain facility. 2. Turning 180 degrees we see the entire train southbound on the Alderside Sub south of Vulcan. cp1400 Date: 12/31/25 02:19 Re: Wild Alberta Skies for the Holiday Train Author: cp1400 3. As the train passed through Carmangay, the sky turned bright orange and purple.
4. A brilliant sunset looking to the west at Carmangay. 5. Slowing for a meet at Barons. cp1400 Date: 12/31/25 02:24 Re: Wild Alberta Skies for the Holiday Train Author: cp1400 6. A few miles south of Barons a sliver of clear sky was all that was left of the daylight.
7. The next morning westbound on the Crowsnest Sub, the rising sun silouetted the Holiday train crossing the big trestle at Monarch. 8. It was mainly cloudy this day but the sun stayed out long enough to highlight the train crossing Pincher Creek near Brocket. Enjoy.... I have so many more great pictures from the trains travels through BC but those will have to wait for a future post. cp1400 Date: 12/31/25 03:31 Re: Wild Alberta Skies for the Holiday Train Author: cozephyr Great coverage of the CPKC Holiday Train-!
