Big Time Gypsum
Author: cn6218

In contrast to the Windsor & Hantsport's gypsum hauling, CN in Nova Scotia does it on a grand scale.  Daily trains from Milford to Wrights Cove haul 60-65 loaded 286K cars, for a net load of about 7500 tons of rock each round trip.On February 12 last year, the loaded 511 was splitting the approach signals to Windsor Jct., and would diverge to the Dartmouth Sub in a little more than a mile. These signals are the approach to Kinsac siding in the other direction, and were recently modernized with LED types.  A similar project is underway near mile 2 of the Dartmouth sub to replace the searchlights there with another set of LEDs approaching he junction from the east.
