Canadian Railroads > Steam Sunday - CP G5a Pacific 1201 Crossing the Rideau RiverDate: 03/15/26 16:12 Steam Sunday - CP G5a Pacific 1201 Crossing the Rideau River Author: feclark A few Sundays ago, and then the one before that, I posted some photos of the excursion train that ran out of the National Museum of Science & Technology in Ottawa. Crewed by CP and Bytown Railway Society members, this was a pretty operation. On the northbound run to Wakefield, QC, the Pacific is in charge of the combine plus four more cars, crossing the Rideau River onto the campus of Carleton University. The date in July 22, 1981, and my vantage point is the parking garage on the east side of the tracks. More specifically, I think I was on the spiral ramp for the garage, hoping nobody was going to come flying by and smear me into the concrete. Worth every minute of it!
