407 In The Fog
Author: cn6218

March 9, 2026 was a foggy one in Truro, NS.  CN train A407 had arrived from Dartmouth, made their pickup in the yard, and was ready to leave for Moncton by 8:30.

I had been hoping for the fog to lift, but it was not to be as the train roared past the new intermediate signals at East Mines Sta. just before 9.

Things had still not improved 10 minutes later as the train wound up the hill and under the old TransCanada Highway on Folly Mountain.

Finally, at 09:11, as 407 was passing the mile 25 detector at the north end of Folly Lake, the fog cleared.  Two hours later they were passing the Maccan detector (mile 69) which counted 192 axles, but by then I had turned around to look for the gypsum train closer to home.
