Canadian Railroads > Via #1 and Forest FireDate: 07/08/26 19:44 Via #1 and Forest Fire Author: Hou74-76 I just saw that Via #1 07/05. is cancelled west of Kamloops North and replaced with buses due to forest fires around Boston Bar. Seems like it is going to be a long hot summer. The Canadian has had a few challenges this season. And I hope the fires can be contained without loss of life. There is a lot of timber in BC.

Train 1 of July 8 - Possible disruptions en route — In light of active wildfires in the Boston Bar, BC area, VIA Rail is closely monitoring the situation as it relates to the safety of operations and air quality. As emissions from forest fires can travel large distances, passengers with respiratory problems are advised to take proper precautions and inform themselves of the status of the air quality before departure. Due to this situation outside of our control, service disruptions are possible for trains travelling through this area. In the event that we cannot guarantee safe operation, this train might be cancelled while en route, without offer of alternate transportation. Passengers would have to find their own transportation or accommodations. Please note that the last city with access to an airport would be Edmonton, as there is no airport in Jasper.
