Canadian Railroads > Making the Most of Smoke Season in BC

Fire smoke from the several nearby wildfire complexes is funneling through the Thompson River Canyon, fanned by westerly winds. The small hamlet of Spences Bridge, British Columbia is enshrouded by the thick, stinking haze.  The erroneously lit number boards of the rear distributed power unit on CN manifest M303 trace through the night, above the glowing rails of the Ashcroft Subdivision. Above, on the road bridge over the Thompson River, one of the few foolish motorists at this hour speeds westward on the Trans-Canada Highway.

Despite the main lines of both Canadian class 1 railways being surrounded by the Brunswick fire complex further west in the Fraser Canyon, rail traffic has continued virtually unabated for the past two months.

Well done night photo, lots of interest and color. Be careful of that haevy smoke, highly recommend an N95 level mask for breathing.
