Canadian Railroads > Super Continental trains meet

A little dark in the Canadian Rockies as the eastbound Super Continental (the one I'm on) heads into a siding passing the westbound on the Canadian National.
One of the six ex-Milwaukee Super Dome cars that CN acquired in 1964 was in the consist (on the eastbound also).
An ex-CN diner and plenty of cold weather steam from both trains.
Also note in the last shot, kerosene marker lamps on the last car (on my train also).

Wonderful pictures! I presume this meet was west of Jasper.........not sure if you know where "the meet" may have been....... Thanks for posting! Wish we had the Super Continental and the Canadian back and on their original routes. The corridor between Calgary to Canmore, Banff, Lake Louise, Golden, Revelstoke, etc. is getting HUGELY built up....... Remote work becoming more common so people are making year-round communities out of a lot of these towns that were mere outposts in the last century. Tremendous growth.........

Just a guess, but my Spidey-senses suggest it is either CN Fitzwilliam, BC Mile 25.2 Albreda Sub.or CN Morey, BC Mile 57.3 Albreda Sub.

I am surprised to see in picture #2 what was often referred to as a "baggage/roomette" car behind the locomotives.  Those were originally 22-roomette sleepers.  A small baggage area replaced some of the roomettes.  The roomettes could be used as a crew dormitory on major trains.  On some trains the baggage/roomette car was the only sleeper.  I didn't see them too often on the Super Continental.

Outstanding meet photos taken onboard.  Very dramatic with the dark lighting.

A little history on those CN Baggage Dormitory Cars .....
PRPX 23 PRPX #23
Built in 1948 by P-S in Lot #6790 to Plan #4122 as NYC 22RM sleeper #10442 GREAT PECONIC BAY, 1 of 45 such sleepers (#10400-#10444) built in that Lot; part of an order for 200 cars placed by NYC in December 1945; the 45 22RM sleepers were delivered between July and October 1948.
In 1958-1959, NYC sold 23 of these cars to CN as #2052-#2074. The #10442 as CN #2063 VALJEAN.
In 1973-1974, CN rebuilt 14 of these 23 cars to baggage-14RM dormitories #9475-#9488; the #2063 was rebuilt to #9477 in 1973.
VIA retired the car in 1990 and sold it to a private owner, who stored the car at Mhneral, WA.
​In 2003, the Pacific Railroad Preservation Association acquired the car, and in 2004 modified it to a tool car for use with the SPandS #700, retaining 2 of the roomettes.

I will be on VIA 002 August 31st from Vancouver to Jasper, then VIA 001 from Jasper to Vancouver September 9th and will try to snap as many sidings and single/double track locations as possible to help identify the location of your posted photo. :-)
