Canadian Railroads > VIA Ocean Train #15 (28) - Cancelled at Campbellton

Made it out of Halifax 3 minutes late......but held at Campbellton and now cancelled due to "operational constraints that can't be resolved"..... Not sure if this is something VIA mechanical related to the train set itself, or CN related etc. Anyone know what happened?

VIA Rail Canada looking to provide alternate transportation to get people to Montreal or intermediate stops. But anyone looking to "board" between Campbellton and Montreal - no alternate transportation passenger train for them cancelled. This train set would head back east out of Montreal to Halifax on Sunday evening.

Interestingly, train #14 (28) is east of #15 so it is still on its way to Halifax - but 3 hours late! It appears that #14 AND #15 would have been in Campbellton this morning and passed each other, so instead of it being a "route obstruction" I presume it's mechnical related or something that happened to the train set itself (HEP, etc.). But overall, not sure. 

It seems VIA has decided to let passengers continue on #15 but passengers planning on boarding at stations west have been told the train is cancelled. ETA for #15 is midnight tonight.  Sunday's #15 has been delayed until Monday..  Train #14 has been cancelled at Amherst due to a freight derailment.

The train was able to resume its trip, but will not be receiving any passengers yet to board it, due to operational constraints. For passengers yet to board the train, boarding in Matapedia and after, please note that the service has been cancelled with no alternate transportation. Updates will be provided as soon as possible. Latest update: 15:30 EDT.Train 15 - Postponed departure — The departure of Train 15 from Halifax scheduled for Sunday, August 30 will be postponed to Monday, August 31 at 11:30 AM due to a freight train derailment preventing us from operating on the tracks. Passengers who choose not to travel are entitled to a full refund for a cancellation or an exchange without service charge. However, any fare difference will be charged. Cancellations and exchanges must be made by a VIA Rail agent to cancel the service fees. Train 14 - Train partially replaced by bus transportation — Due to a freight train derailment blocking the tracks, train 14 will be replaced by a bus from Amherst, passing through Truro, to Halifax. •Boarding will take place in front of the station •The sale of snacks and beverages will not be available on the bus, please plan accordingly Passengers who have not yet boarded and do not wish to travel on the bus may cancel their ticket before departure to receive a full refund or exchange their ticket without paying any service charge (fare difference must be paid). Cancellations and exchanges must be made by a VIA Rail agent to cancel the service fees. We expect the bus to arrive at Truro at approximately 00:01 ADT, on August 30th. Please note that this time may change, and that the bus may arrive earlier than anticipated.
