The RhB is a narrow gauge line (1m) connecting Chur with St. Moritz, with a branch line to Disentis where it connects to the ex FO and BVZ to Zermatt (Matthorn). The train which derailed was on the line to Disentis. It derailed because of rocks falling on the track (due to the unusual "hot" winter weather in Switzerland). While derailing, it clipped the support columns of a adjacent concrete showshed which in course fall onto the engine. It's amazing that nobody was hurt seriously. The line will be reopened on Tuesday... Lukas |
