This corrects a date error in the latest SVS Film email Newsletter concerning the planned 'Atlantic Coast Express' special train to be headed by 35028 'Clan Line'. This is scheduled for Saturday 27th May 2017. Here is the full news item with apologies for the error:
Clan Line’ 35028 return
The Merchant Navy Locomotive Preservation Society (MNLPS) have announced outline plans for the Pacific’s return in 2017. Subject to completion of the restoration works, the first Belmond British Pullman ‘Surrey Hills’ operation is planned for 28th April. An ‘Atlantic Coast Express’ will run from London to Exeter on 27th May. To commemorate 50 years since the running of the last steam hauled ‘Bournemouth Belle, the Pullman train will run again on 5th July, and another ‘end of steam’ special is planned for 8th July.

The photograph shows 35028 in its last weeks of British Railways service, passing Eastleigh with the 1120 London Waterloo to Southampton Western Docks 'Achille Lauro' ocean liner boat train on June 15th 1967.

Interesting that the Achille Lauro was part of the boat train back then. It was later rebuilt (?) into a cruise ship that was taken hostage in the 1980s.

The Merchant Navies are among the best looking British locos, in my opinion.
