European Railroad Discussion > SWT DriversDate: 02/16/17 13:58 SWT Drivers Author: ontherail55 Hi everyone,
I have a question about South West Trains Drivers in the UK. How many routes does one driver drive? If a driver drives the Waterloo to Reading Line, is he then also able to drive to Windsor, to Weybridge or the Hounslow Loop? At my knowledge, there is a Waterloo Driver Depot. Almost all lines starts at London Waterloo. Does it mean, that a driver at Waterloo Depot signs all routes? Thank you in advance. ontherail55 Date: 02/16/17 15:33 Re: SWT Drivers Author: CIT1023 Hi,
A few years since I was there, but I will try to give you answers. Route knowledge is dependant on which link the driver is placed based on seniority, suburban, medium distance and long distance. Reading route knowledge would incorporate Weybridge, Windsor and Hounslow loop, used to be used by some peak hour Reading trains but also a diversionary route. Yes there is a driver depot at Waterloo station. The depot's route knowledge would incorporate all suburban routes can't think of any they do not drive over. My information is based on experience from some years ago but if you wish I could give you run down of routes they certainly had knowledge during my time there.
