The nation can breathe in safety, and nothing was lost other than some dignity! Bagels of course are an Americanism foisted on a gullible UK public. Bagels have been baked in Jewish bakeries in the East End for as long as I can remember. Date: 03/01/17 17:55 Re: How strange are the Brits? Author: PHall 86235 Wrote:

My mind is a clear as glass on the matter. Obviously I know about the real thing! I have often stood after midnight outside the bakery in Brick Lane eating them with salt beef and a nice mug of tea - I did work at the London Hospital in Whitechapel Road after all. My comments were aimed at the bland offerings from the "so-called" New York Bagel company available at places like Tesco across the country. The gentle joke was aimed at the difficult notion of anything from a nation of immigrants being truly American, least of all apple pie. I think the most distinctive things about the US are the trains! Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/02/17 00:13 by spflow. Date: 03/02/17 09:48 Re: How strange are the Brits? Author: eminence_grise I like the bagel portrayed in the article with a bite taken out of it. For a nation with bad teeth, the culprit unusually has full set of lower teeth. (I still have some National Health repairs in my six decades old mouth)
