Just returned home from a visit to Barcelona, which included a visit to the Railway Museum of Catalonia. Located at a former engine terminal in Vilanova i la Geltru, a 40-minute ride west of the city on RENFE's R2 Line, the collection includes 26 steam locomotives as well as electric and diesel equipment. The older pieces are kept in a 12-stall roundhouse, while the rest occupy outdoor whisker tracks around the turntable.
First, here's a few U.S.-made items--
1. Baldwin-Westinghouse B-B-B electric 7807, and Alco cab unit diesel 1801.
2. Plate attached to the nose of 7807.
3. Power for a Talgo II train, built by American Car & Foundry.

4. This 2-8-2's last run in 1975 marked the official end of steam in Spain.
5. An 0-6-6-0 Mallet.
6. "Crocodile"-type electric locomotive, built in Switzerland in 1928. Used on the mountainous line between Madrid and the Basque country.

8. The museum's oldest locomotive, this 2-4-0 was built in England in 1854.
9. This 2-2-2 is a replica built in 1948, of the first engine to run in Spain, in 1848.

Interesting progression of nose styles, from imposing (Baldwin/Westinghouse) to substantial (Alco) to "I guess we should give it a nose" (ACF).
