Sunday afternoon was rather fallow train-wise. We stopped at a couple of locations on the Ventspils line but only saw a single train, and that badly back-lit. Calling it a day we headed back to Riga, stopping one last time near Lielvarde, in the electrified district, and were rewarded by two loaded trains, one behind the other. This is the second train, more loaded oil tanks, including the span bolster eight axle variants.

Thanks for posting this very interesting video.
The motive power and rolling stock appear very robust compared to that generally used in Europe.

Reflects history I guess when Latvia was part of firstly the Imperial Russian Empire and, latterly, the USSR. So everything you see dates back to Russian / Soviet times, most noticeably the 5' gauge.
