Date: 08/26/17 09:02 Re: Is Virgrin trains owned by Virgin Atlantic Airline Company ? Author: WP17 It's much more complicated:
What Branson owns is Virgin Group that has investments in a multitude of Virgin companies. In terms of trains, Virgin has two rail subsidiaries in Britain -- Virgin Rail Group (51% owned by Virgin Group) . and Virgin Trains East Coast (only a 10% interest). The former is the west coast main line service while the latter is the east coast line to Scotland. BTW the east coast franchise has been very problematic over the years with many operators most of whom have mucked it badly -- GNER, National Rail,........ And interestingly Virgin Group has sold off a lot of Virgin Atlantic over the years so at this time Branson owns only 20% of the Transatlantic airline. Author: DavidP Delta is the largest shareholder in Virgin Atlantic.
Virgin group has licensed their brand to various airlines globally, including Virgin Australia and Virgin America (now owned by Alaska Airlines). There are Virgin Radio stations in a number of countries worldwide but that's about all in the entertainment business.
