Big Time Electric Iron Ore Railroading
Author: YukonYeti

More than 150 miles above the Arctic Circle, a constant stream of iron ore trains operate between the mines at Kiruna, Sweden to Narvik, Norway. The motive power are 17 pairs of Bombardier built electrics of massive proportions known as IOREs.. This is not your typical European railway. In this image a train of 68 empty ore cars run along ridge line near Torneham, Sweden on September 29, 2017.

Yes, it appears there are a couple of trains each way per day.

Of the two trains one is a through service with sleeping cars and couchettes between Narvik and Stockholm, the other is an intercity service between Narvik and Lulea on the Gulf of Bothnia.
