European Railroad Discussion > Golden Pass Tourist TrainDate: 01/03/18 02:09 Golden Pass Tourist Train Author: MEKoch From Montreux to Interlaken to Lausanne operates the Golden Pass. It is in at least two segments, which are not connected. We rode the train from Montreux to Zweistimmen, which is the end of the operation for that segment. About a 2.5 hour trip. The climb our of Montreux is spectacular; then the train continues climbing to Zweisimmen in the Berner Oberland.
1) The Golden Pass equipment moving in the station 2) Golden Pass nose picture: there are five or six premium seats on the front of the train at the lower level. The engineer rides above them. 3) The interior of our car. It is similar equipment to the Glacier Express. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/03/18 02:21 by MEKoch. 5) A second shot as we are moving along. 6) There is other Golden Pass equipment that is older and might be preferable for railfans wanting to look out the windows. Date: 01/03/18 02:18 Re: Golden Pass Tourist Train Author: MEKoch 7) A 3/4 shot of the Golden Pass equipment
8) At Zweisimmen we had to detrain from our Golden Pass train 9) We boarded a BLS intercity train to Spiez Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/03/18 02:20 by MEKoch. Date: 01/03/18 03:27 Re: Golden Pass Tourist Train Author: 86235 MEKoch Wrote:

Those look like the MOB's 'Classic' stock, six imitation 1930s era Pullman cars, they are airconditioned so I suspect they too have sealed windows. If you want to sample the fresh mountain air of the MOB over the Golden Pass you will need to take one of the regional services worked by the older motor cars. The engineer rides above them. How much is the extra fare for those seats? Can you select your specific seat in advance? I'm sure photographers would want the one in the centre. Date: 01/04/18 16:36 Re: Golden Pass Tourist Train Author: MEKoch I don't know the prices of the front premium seats, but I was told they are quickly sold out. We had a Eurail Pass, and only needed a seat reservation.
