Tharandt flooding
Author: Bob3985

Andreas took me by the station at Tharandt to show me he effects of the flooding. Mind you this was a mainline of the DB.

First photo if of the Tharandt station and out front is a bus providing service while the railroad is being repaired.

Second photo is Andreas showing how high the water got on the station platform side.

Third photo shows the platform side and the damage repair that was going on at this time in 2002.

It looks like they repair railroads like they do roadways. They completely tear up and rebuild from ground up. No patchwork in Germany! Auf den Autobahnen zu fahren macht keinen Spaß, wenn man auf den Bau trifft. Driving on the motorways is no fun when one encounters construction.
