A relatively ancient DB class 215 at Köln West, probably working out its days shuffling coaches in and out of the Hauptbahnhof.
Wikipedia tells me this class dates from 1968 and is equipped with a Maybach MTU 16 V 652 TB prime mover and hydraulic transmission.

Since it's still in its original paint scheme in excellent condition, it may be a preserved (museum) engine. I believe they were withdrawn from regular train service in 2003.

I noticed the DB logo has been changed to EfW. This locomotive seems to be owned by
EfW-Verkehrsgesellschaft, headquartered in Frechen, which deals with the provision of traction
services in construction and special train services. Since 2001, an extensive fleet of used
locomotives of the former German Federal Railways has been built. The locomotive was acquired by
them in 2013.
