This will close out this week's installment... Saving the best for last... The Di4 class locomotives are essentially AC traction SD40-2's built by Henschel in Germany. For all intent and purposes the Di4's are assigned to the only diesel only sector between Trondheim and Bodo, the latter, well north of the Arctic Circle.

Di 4 Kyllingbra August 20, 2016
Di 4 651 Inn mot Bjorli August 20, 2016...

(Comment from the American side, there is more to modern day railways than GEVO's and ACe's.

Tusen Takk Odd Arne for allowing the sharing of your images..

Is that really a stone ARCH bridge? Crazy, it's a wonder it stays together, unless that's a veneer over concrete which does not seem likely. A hard way to build a bridge! Nice scenery, thanks. === === = === JLH

Those are some interesting headlight configurations. LED/xenon inside the old housing and incandescent on either side mounted externally?

Stone Arch bridges are some of the strongest, most stable bridges ever built. Some of the oldest railroad bridges still in use in the United States are stone arch bridges built in the mid 19th century.

So it may be. But for most of the period during which railways were built Stone and bricks were the only way. Reinforced concrete only became widespread during the first decade of the 20th century - famously, used by the contractor "Concrete Bob" McAlpine on the West Highland Railway in Scotland. By this time virtually all European lines had been already been built for some years.

All are stone:

Oldest was built over 3200 years ago.
