I took a day out to ride across the border from Germany into the Czech republic

The train from Plattling Germany terminates at the frontier station that straddles the border at Bayersish Eisentein /Zelezna Ruda-Albetin

a Czech diesel and a few old cars form a train north into the pine forests LIne 183 to Plzen

very few people were on the lunchtime service i rode

  i would presume during world War 2 this would have been a much more important line for transport of troops and supplies

the scenery is much like Oregon or New England  i detrained at a place called Janovice and Uhlavou

one of  number of tunnels

  when they had  steam through here it  would have been most unpleasant 

i did not notice any ventilation shafts unless they had been sealed up years ago

 open the windows and look out along the train  

these isolated stopping places are found along the line

at Janovice there were virtually no people anywhere  to be seen during the few hours wait there

i took a single car rail motor/rail bus across  scenic farming country  via  Kdyne to a junction at Domazlice  Line 185 to Klatovy

only few locals were on board    

on a main line with connecting trains to Praha and Germany using the Alex consists

the round trip fro Plattling  Janovice and Domazlice and Regensberg takes a day to complete

this is on the main line that i took a train back  to Regensberg Germany and then back to Plattling

out there that day  not much English is spoken  the guard/conductor spoke Russian i beleive 

  just show a map and some place names and they helped to guide me to the train  i was looking for

no problems    really
