Just finished a 13 day escorted rail tour of Switzerland.  Using the 15 day 1st class rail pass.

Fast, clean, on time *(to the second*  trains, some air conditioned, some open windows.

Narrow guage, cog, steam, diesels,  Friendly crews!

TIPS   Heat wave  Don't come in July and August.
Not much air conditioning in the hotels, NO ice machines, ice tea F-
and worst tip; Bring Money!!!   Cokes, Beers, bottled water  $ 6.00 US $$$.

Switzerland is a railfan's paradise. Some say the Swiss built mountains just so they could run trains up, over and through them.

Details on steam, please. My wife and I will be there the month of September and we want to ride steam when and where we can. Our headquaters will be in Olten.

Here's a steam excursion that wlll run on September 15, round-trip on the Rhaetische Bahn, Landquart-Survelsa, departing 08:55. Best to spend the night in Chur or Landquart to ride this.
