South Kenton, and around
Author: 86235

On Wednesday I was in London, spending much of my spare time at South Kenton in the NW suburbs on the West Coast Mainline and Watford DC lines.

1: en route to South Kenton I stopped off at West Hampstead for GBRf's 6O14 Harlow Mill to Tonbridge behind 66759 Chippy.
2: I arrived at South Kenton station just in time for 66762 on 4M46 London Gateway to Hams Hall. As you can see a Virgin West Coast Pendolino is rapidly overtaking.
3: From South Kenton station I walked across the open space to the footbridge over the line towards Kenton. On the DC lines a 378 hurries towards Euston.

4: 66613 is on a relatively new weekly flow, the 6M51 from Battersea in South London to Tunstead in the Peak District.
5: As 6M51 disappeared under the Metropolitan Line / Chiltern Railway bridge a 378 and pair of 377s appeared. Both products of Bombardier at Derby they are part of the 'star' family of MUs.
6: Also on the DC lines is a Bakerloo Line train of 1972 Stock, today the oldest stock on the Underground. The Bakerloo Line shares the DC lines with the Overground between Queens Park and Harrow & Wealdstone

7: on a weekday afternoon the South Kenton scene is enlivened by the 1S96 mail from the PRDC at Willesden to Shieldmuir near Glasgow.
8: After a lengthy recess in Wembley Yard 66027 is at the head of 6X77 Dagenham to Mossend carrying imported Ford cars and vans.
9: And last but by no means least, Virgin West Coast's Ride with Pride 390 on the 17:30 London Euston to Glasgow Central.

Thanks for sharing these great shots -- such variety -- and I'm glad you were able to capture Virgin Rail's Ride with Pride set. Splendid action shot of the train.
