A sparkling LDz 2TE10U pulling out of the northern of Daugavpils two yards on loaded coal bound for Riga or Ventspils. This footbridge is strategically situated over the throat at the south end of the yard. Behind me is one of the engine facilities and beyond that is another departure yard. This is a busy railway hot spot.

But be warned, I ran into some trouble from a security guard who told me I couldn't take pictures. I said OK, but he wanted me to delete those I'd taken. As I had taken some in full view of LDz operational staff who hadn't raised any objection I guessed this was bulls*it but remaining polite and smiling I said goodbye and walked back to the car. I had a similar run in with a Latvian security guard in December 2016, but that was in Dublin and the answer remained the same.
