Around Belgium
Author: tevillo27

During our trip to Brussels last week, we made good use of the rail network to get around the city and to take day trips to Ghent and Germany.  It was once again a pleasure to be passengers on an efficient, dense rail system of the kind you will find in western Europe. On our trip to Germany on an ICE high-speed train, I was very impressed by the scene that Liege Station presents. Its design is magnificent. I couldn't take any pictures that would have done it justice, but I was fortunate to see a model of the station in the Train World Museum in Brussels.

1. During our canal tour in Ghent, one of the city's trams crosses a bridge as we approach.
2. Memorial to Belgian railway workers who died in the two world wars. This is in Brussels Central Station.
