Very nice.
A Class 37 living up to its nickname.
Is that a 47 on the rear?
Seems very late for an excursion, arrival Glasgow in the wee hours no doubt.

Thanks for posting this. Interesting sounding engine. Trying to think of an American equivalent. Maybe a Baldwin and Alco cross?

The train is interesting as well. 4 buffet cars separated by a kitchen? Then coaches, but not like in the movies. Open seating. Any incite you can provide?

Class 37s being something of a cult in heritage traction; nick-named 'tractors' for obvious reasons. 1750hp English Electric locos. Owned/operated by West Coast Railway Company - a company that owns heritage traction (classes 33, 37, 47 mainly) and operates excursions exclusively.

a few more the next day

a freight version heading for some work   along the line and a push pull train from Barrow in Furness

it is a tribute to the longevity of these units as they were well into service from the time when JFK was the president and  in  that they are still receiving overhauls

The 88s are 25kV 5400 hp electric locomotives with a 'last mile' diesel capability of 900 hp.
