Isle of Man part 2 - Steam
Author: westfalen

Some shots of the Isle of Man steam railway taken during my visit in September.

On Friday 14th there were two locos in steam, one of them being No.13 "Kissack" caught here running around its train at Douglas.

The second engine was No.12 "Hutchinson", both are seen here at Port Soderick.

I rode from Douglas to Ballasalla and return, perhaps in 1999, on a business trip to find a new supplier for our products for small paper diecutters that we import and sell in the USA.

I wondered around the airport business park until I found their unmarked factory. I squeezed into a tiny compartment on the train with a young mommy and three kids.

It was the first day of spring operation.  The horse tram had not started up for the season yet.

I claim to be the only person in 1999 to ride a steam train in USA or UK on business.

I had several shots of gin in the authentic local pub in the Douglas station before taking the ferry ride back to my headquarters hotel in Liverpool for many more rides out of Lime Street.
