European Railroad Discussion > Scottish SteamDate: 01/27/19 10:43 Scottish Steam Author: Rattie Some footage from a photo charter on the Strathspey Steam Railway that is based in the Scotish Highlands at Aviemore. Filmed on the 3rd March 2017 we see 2-6-0 Class 2MT No. 46512 "E. V. Cooper, Engineer". Built for British Railways in Swindon in 1952 and withdrawn from service in December 1966. 128 were built between 1946 and 1953 of which seven survive. Six are have run in preservation but only three are currently active. No 46512 was returned to operation in March 2011.

The Strathspey Steam railway will be 12 miles once it reached Grantown on Spey. The line is currently 2 and a bit miles short. One of the quirks of us joining the EU back in the 1970's was while we moved to the metric system for most things, our road signs are still in miles and our car speeds are still MPH.
