European Railroad Discussion > DB From My Back Garden 1966Date: 02/03/19 06:03 DB From My Back Garden 1966 Author: gbmott Seeing the wonderful photos from 1975 that Greg has been posting inspired me to dig into the file to see what I might come up with. I was assigned to the 3rd Armored Division in Frankfurt in 1965-66. There was a shortage of quarters for batchelor officers so two colleagues and I found an apartment in the suburb of Eschersheim. Drat, wouldn't you know it but the back garden ended at the right-of-way of the DB mainline to Giessen and Kassel. Unfortunately it had been electrified as far as Giessen (and in the process on to Kassel) as all these E10's got exchanged for 01 Pacifics at Giessen. As it was, it was a mixed bag of power, mostly electric, but a couple branches off this line were still steam worked. So while nothing to compare to the quality of Greg's, here's a sample of what was seen from my backyard. All spring 1966.

If there is interest I'll post some from other locations, mainly steam.

........ So while > nothing to compare to the quality of Greg's, Well, that's a matter of opinion: E10 384, one of three in the experimental grey skirt scheme, for example, is a winner, but I like em all. Yes, more please, especially including the mundane -- one never knows.... With best regards, SZ Date: 02/03/19 17:31 Re: DB From My Back Garden 1966 Author: gbmott Steinzeit2 Wrote:

Was the third one E10 382? If so I didn't photograph it. E10 385, as you see, was in standard paint. Gordon Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/03/19 17:34 by gbmott. A quick reference for this information, and much much more, is the superb website "www.bundesbahnzeit.de". More, please -- I hope you took photos of rolling stock as well. Best regards, SZ Date: 02/03/19 19:19 Re: DB From My Back Garden 1966 Author: Bob3985 Great photos and thanks for sharing.
