Some more pictures from the line Bamberg-Hof with the heavy pacific type BR01 taken in April 1973. Sadly, this was shortly before the demise of these handsome engines at the end of May 1973, with only on train pair Hof-Regensburg duties remaining for another six moths. Thankfully some of the engine were preserved anstill occasionally run.


Picture 1: Its Easter, and the roundhouse is still filled with active BR01 pacifics, and two decapods BR50.

Picture 1: The 01 008 in the trainshed in Hof (Bavaria). This was the oldest engine of this type still in
regular service, I belive dating back to 1926 or 27.

Picture 3: A double header with two BR01 departs Kumbach with its train to Hof. Its April, and sometimes to warm for steam condensation (about 9°C). Well the fireman on the second engined layed on quite a bit of coal, just as favor for me. He new very well how to fire this type of engine.

Very nice work.  I like the pictures.

Very nice. We were there in the summer of 72, and the line was very busy.  By the time we went again in 1974, we knew the stuff there was gone, so we went
elsewhere to happier hunting grounds.  Glad you got there in 73.  Like the study of the 01 running gear.
