The train was rather delayed thanks to a lineside bush fire on the Ffestiniog section. Whilst the railway fire crew were dealing with it the Snowdonian had to cool its heels at Blaenau. It was running about an hour late by the time power was exchanged and Lyn and Lyd took over.

1: Here they are on the climb from the flood plain of the Afon Glaslyn to Nantmor and the tunnel whicxh takes the line in to the Pass of Aberglaslyn
2: As you can see this special event brought out the crowds
3: After watering at Beddgelert the train climbs the reverse curves around Cwm Cloch Isaf

4: The reconstructed Lyn is no simple clone of the original Baldwin design, beneath the genteel exterior lurks a modern steam engine with a superheater and piston valves, a GT version of the original!
5 & 6: two shots of Lyd leading Lyn on the homeward journey, the summit of Snowdon (Y Wyddfa) is still flecked with snow.

On Sunday Lyn did two unadvertised round trips from Porthmadog to Rhyd Ddu with an attenuated consist of four cars. It wasn't as bright as Saturday but remained dry all day (dry but pretty chilly). Talking to a member of Lyn's support team from the Lynton & Barnstaple she is due to be returned to Woody Bay in North Devon this week. Hopefully we will see here in North Wales again.
