Round-trip Excursion from Zürich behind Steam or Electric
Author: SOO6617

The WAGI Museum is hosting round-trip excursions from Zürich Schlieren station in honor of the 120th Anniversary of the historic carriage works Schlieren Wagonfabrik. The trips will be powered by steam locomotive SNCF 141R1244, a Mikado based on an improved USRA Light Mikado and built in North America. This locomotive is one of 1340 built to get SNCF back on its feet at the end of World War II.  Two of the nine total excursions will powered by vintage Electric Locomotive 11402, one of the prototypes of
the SBB's Ae 6/6 "Gottardo" locomotives built between 1952 and 1966 for passenger and freight over the 2.8% grades of the Gotthard Pass route. Sorry for not seeing this sooner, the fares are very reasonable at 25 CHF and are selling out quickly.

Schedule and more information can be found here;

Thanks so much for posting this. I will be in Zurich on August 31 prior to a three day steam charter on the Furka Pass  so this is of interest.
