Around Budapest
Author: dwatry

Somewhat random shots from my April/May trip around Budapest.  First couple shots are in Üllő, which is on a line heading east and southeast from Budapest toward Ukraine, Romania and Moldova.  Train frequency here is very high - as soon as one train clears you can see the following train approaching.
1)  MAV Class 431 on a train toward Budapest.
2) Double-headed ÖBB Class 1116 dual-voltage locos on a freight heading southeast.
3) Class 415 Stadler FLIRT EMU heading toward Budapest.

More Üllő:
4)  Class 431 moving fast getting out of Budapest.
5)  More Stadler FLIRTs heading toward Budapest.
6)  Class 431 heading toward Budapest.

7)  One last Üllő shot - I was not in good position for this, but an eastbound freight rolled through with a Romanian "Constantin Grup" Class 43.

Next couple of shots are at Kelenfold station, which is on the Buda side of the river and is a junction from trains coming from 2 Budapest termini - Keleti and Deli.
8)  Class 431 on train heading to Zagreb - 3rd car is a Croatian (HZ) coach.
9)  GySEV train with a Vectron heading west.

10)  GySEV Class 430 on an eastbound train at Kelenfold.
11)  Class 460 electric shunters at Budapest Deli station, which is the smallest of the 3 major central terminals, and the only one in Buda.
12)  View of Deli Station with tracks full of Stadler FLIRTs.

Any idea what the "H Start" on the front of the engines is about?

"H" is for Hungary.  I believe START is the acronym for the passenger subsidiary of MAV.
