Brecon Mountain Railway no.1 Santa Teresa
Author: 86235

The BMR has recently completed the rebuilding of Baldwin built 2-6-2 Santa Teresa. Originally a 2-6-0 built in 1897 for a railway in Brazil, it was acquired by the BMR in 2002 and rebuilt as a 2-6-2 in the style of the SR&RLRR, a favourite of one time BMR owner Tony Hills. I was out on my bike yesterday and stopped off at the BMRs upper terminus Torpantau for the arrival of the 12:30 from Pant. It's a lovely looking locomotive.

It is indeed, only the frames, cylinders and some of the running gear is original, everything else you see, boiler, cab, tender, trailing truck, copper capped chimney was built new in the BMRs Pant workshop.
