A few photos at York station
Author: briancdn

A currrent trip to England to see a couple of airshows resulted in some train photo ops as I travel between cities. I'm sure these shots are not current news; but for a tourist visiting York for the first time; these shots were worth taking

1) 91111 dressed up to commemerate WW1, at York station Wed evening.

2) Another view of 91111. The 91 class are veterans themselves, having been built around 1989 and still going strong. Their use may be coming to an end as both these and the HST's class 43 are slowly being replaced on long distance services by the new class 800 'Azumas'

3) 68023 'Acihilles' looking sharp at York station. Built by Vossloh Espana between 2013-2017, powered with a 16 cyl Cat prime mover, 3,800 hp. May have been on a test train; looks new!

At York station this morning , a couple of real surprises!

1) 37402 'Stephen Middlemore' with a single car departs York. No idea what this was about; but what a catch!

2) Followed that lucky chance with the arrival of the Flying Scotsman on a trip to Leeds, again with only one car (named Caroline) in tow. It had been overnight at the National Rail museum.

3) 91110 honoring the Battle of Britain memorial flight. Really nice artwork on these wraps.

Excellent photos, and quite local to me. 68023 is used on driver training and route learning prior to the introduction of loco hauled passenger trains for Trans Pennine. 37402 was a great catch. This was an inspection train, using 'Caroline', which is a converted 'Hastings Gauge' coach from the southern region. It was going around West Yorkshire, I photographed it at Horbury Jnc on its tour. Has 91110 been permanently renamed?

When she toiled for GNER she was "David Livingstone." Had the extreme pleasure of riding her footplate from York to Newcastle on a visit in 2003.
