A Couple of Bi-Level Intercity Trains in Europe
Author: tq-07fan

The topic of Ni-Level equipment came up on the Passenger Board and I thought I would throw in some European examples.
Video) Here from April 23 2018. I shot this video from an ICE train going toward Berlin. No idea what the train I videoed was or where it was going.
Picture) Dutch National Railways crossing the Nederrijn on the southwest side of Arnhem.

The Dutch train is a VRM. The German bilevel train is a IC2 (not ICE2) propelled by a Class 146.5 electric built by Bombardier at Kassel. The IC2 sets are replacing older hauled stock. Some IC2 sets are receiving newer Class 147 electrics.

Thank you. I guess my caption was confusing as I was on an ICE train when filming the IC train. I forgot to add that it was an Intercity class train but didn't know what kind. I didn't see them around Hamburg in 2016.

Not surprising, since the IC2 sets are used exclusively on the routes Koblenz- Cologne - Norddeich, Norddeich - Hanover - Leipzig - Cottbus, and Stuttgart - Singen (for the time being).
