Winter in Northern Norway
Author: SvenMolson

Winter came a little late this year to Northern Norway but when it arrived all white hell broke loose.  In mid March the line running between Narvik, Norway to Kiruna was especially hard hit.  The winds whipped the fine snow into a concrete like state.  The perfect storm conditions required that several freight and passengers trains had to be rescured.  The rescuers were MTAB's IORE electrics.  My good friend Mads Skoland, engineer/driver for MTAB took these series of images.

Image 1 - Rescued passenger train at Narvik - March 15th
Image 2 & 3 - An illfated attempt at the rescue of a stranded freight.  Eventually, this train was rescued from the east and pulled back to Vassijaure.

Thanks Mads for use of these images.

Yassir you betcha,
Sven Molson
