European Railroad Discussion > 2002 German TripDate: 05/18/20 19:45 2002 German Trip Author: Bob3985 In 2002 I had an opportunity to tour Germany for 10 days. I had friends (Andreas and Wolfgang) to help me get around.
So I started out in Adreas's back yard, Berlin. Here are a couple of commuter photos. First are a couple of commuter trains. Second is in Berlin and an over under view. Always love Germany shots having served in the army Berlin 1953-1954. Date: 05/19/20 12:24 Re: 2002 German Trip Author: 55002 Thanks for the photos. The livery of the Berlin metro is very attractive, and is still going strong. Chris uk

That said the principle is much the same: relatively high frequency (especially in the central area) all stations services. The S Bahn goes out a bit further (for example outside the formal city boundaries) and tends to be more above ground than the U Bahn. That said they are used in a pretty similar manner and tickets are interchangeable.
