Photo No 3 is one of the 2-8-0s built for the US Army Transportation Corps in WW2 and subsequently distributed to RRs all over Europe and the Middle East.  They were built by Alco, Baldwin and Lima, and over 2000 were built.  PKP got 75 of them.

There was a non-operational one at that time in Jaworszyna Slanska that was painted and lettered U.S. Army Transportation Corps.  I know there are currently-operational ones in the U.K., though are some of them post-war Yugoslavian copies?

Thanks for your great photos, Gordon.
You were fortunate to be over there when these were in service.
