European Railway Stations Part 16
Author: andersonb109

With all due respect to the architect, this is probably the most unattractive station I've posted. The bars on the windows are a nice touch. I'm guessing it looked better back in the day with perhaps some original elements long gone?  It's Pila, Poland. Interesting that there are tracks on both sides. In 2007 there was a large  covered roundhouse (think Martinsburg, WV) and shops working on steam locos. That's the resson we visited. As mentioned earlier, Poland does seem to like very large signs on it's stations.

unlike most depots you've posted photos of, this depot appears to be suffering from deferred maintenance.
Thanks for continuing your interesting series.

Photo taken in 2007. Wonder if it's still there or fixed up. Lots of modernization in Poland since that visit as you will see in tomorrow's post.

The Wikipedia link has a 2015 picture of the station. New coat of yellow paint, forecourt cleaned up, newer sign.

This is also a Prussian station.
