European Railway Stations - Riksgrånsen, Sweden
Author: GPutz

It's not at all elegant, but in winter this station is a very busy place.  Riksgrånsen, Sweden, is a ski resort about 30 miles by train east of Narvik, Norway, and only a mile east of the border.  Most of the platform is in the snow shed.  At right is the Norwegian conductor on his way to a room were he waits for the next train to Narvik.  Conductors swap out here, but neither drivers nor bistro car staff.  The currency used in the bistro car does change crowns, though.  This picture was taken 03.06.2012, and there's still snow around, but not enough to ski.  Gerry

A great place to shoot not only SJ but LKAB and Kaunis Iron/Grenland ore trains. Bear in mind, this station is about 120 miles north of the Arctic Circle.

The attached photo of the Kaunis/Grenland is about 4 miles East of Riksgransen.
